Our Impact
Expanding Access to Healthcare Since 2013
Since its founding in 2013, Serene Health Inc. has worked to ensure that access to healthcare is not determined by income, location, or circumstance. Our model is community-centered and practical—we take healthcare directly to people who need it most, with particular focus on women, children, and other vulnerable populations.
Through mobile clinics, outreach activities, and trusted local partnerships, Serene Health delivers essential services to communities that face persistent barriers to care.
Since its founding in 2013, Serene Health Inc. has worked to ensure that access to healthcare is not determined by income, location, or circumstance. Our approach has always been simple and community-centered: we take healthcare directly to people who need it most—especially women, children, and other vulnerable populations—through mobile clinics, outreach activities, and trusted local partnerships.
Over the years, Serene Health has provided free healthcare services to more than 5,000 individuals in communities across Montserrado County, including Louisiana, Cheesemanburg, Peace Island, Doe Community, Old Road, Fish Market, and Yarkpa’s Town. We have also extended care to populations often left out of traditional health programming, including incarcerated individuals at the Monrovia Central Prison and children living in orphanages.
Mobile clinics remain at the heart of our work. Through over 15 mobile medical outreaches, our volunteer teams—made up of doctors, physician assistants, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, and community volunteers—have delivered general consultations, basic laboratory testing, treatment for common illnesses, free medications, and referrals. For many patients, these services represented their first point of contact with a healthcare provider in months or even years.
Maternal and child health has been a consistent focus of our programming. Between 2016 and 2018, with support from the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), Serene Health implemented a community-based antenatal support initiative in rural Montserrado County. The program supported over 100 pregnant women, encouraged regular antenatal attendance, promoted facility-based deliveries, and resulted in the safe delivery of 21 infants. Community Health Volunteers and trained Traditional Midwives played a vital role in reaching expectant mothers and reinforcing health-seeking behaviors.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Serene Health responded to emerging needs in collaboration with the National AIDS Commission. In 2020, we supported persons living with HIV/AIDS by distributing food items, hygiene supplies, and essential health commodities in Louisiana, Cheesemanburg, and Yarkpa’s Town. Through a community-led fundraising effort, we raised USD 2,788, which helped provide food, multivitamins, and basic medicines to individuals and families affected by the crisis, including frontline health workers.
Our commitment to holistic health has also included mental health awareness and child health prevention. In 2021, we partnered with the Carter Center to host a World Mental Health Day dialogue aimed at reducing stigma and promoting community conversations around mental well-being. That same year, Serene Health implemented an Early Childhood Deworming Project, reaching over 2,000 children in 20 schools across Montserrado County—supporting healthier childhood development and improved school participation.
What makes our impact possible is not only funding or supplies, but people. Our work is driven by volunteers, community leaders, health professionals, and partners who believe in equitable healthcare. Over the years, we have collaborated with public institutions, private companies, and local organizations, while remaining accountable to the communities we serve.
As we look ahead, Serene Health remains committed to expanding mobile clinics, strengthening county-level partnerships, and reaching communities where healthcare access remains limited. Our impact is measured not only in numbers, but in trust built, lives touched, and communities supported—one outreach at a time
