Serene Health Inc. began in 2013, when founder and Executive Director Maima Quoi Pelham recognized the devastating barriers that rural and low-income Liberians face when trying to access basic health services. As a nurse working within communities, Maima witnessed the preventable illnesses, long distances to health facilities, and the painful reality that many women, children, and elderly people suffer simply because healthcare is out of reach.

Motivated by a deep passion for service and a commitment to improving community health, she launched Serene Health as a small volunteer-driven mobile clinic initiative. The goal was straightforward but ambitious:
take healthcare directly to people who need it most.
