In 2021, Serene Health launched the Early Childhood Deworming Project (ECDP) as a comprehensive parasite control initiative in rural and slum communities in Montserrado County. The project aimed to benefit 8,000 children aged 6–15 years across more than 20 schools and communities, using school-based and community-based delivery mechanisms.

Phase I, implemented between November and December 2021, reached 672 children aged 4–15 years from 50 communities and 17 public and private schools in three cluster locations: Louisiana, Cheesemanburg Township and Nyehn Town (Todee District). Of those dewormed, 55.4% were girls and 44.6% were boys. The intervention was supported by strong community mobilization, including engagement with the Ministry of Education School Health Division, District Health Teams, school administrators, and community leaders; recruitment of six gCHVs; 250 flyers; and radio jingles aired on Truth FM and OK FM.
